Murphy
This is Murphy – from Taiwan.
He was someone’s pet at one time, as he is housetrained, but was found as a street dog in desperate need of medical attention.
A Taiwanese rescue organization asked if any rescues in North America would take him, as he and two others needed more medical attention than they could provide.
A local rescue agreed to bring them here, but once he arrived they were a bit shocked at what they saw. Best guess is that some sort of acid ate through his snout, causing a hole that ate through the bone, went through his sinuses and through the roof of his mouth. He has had 5 surgeries – the first ones repaired the inside of his mouth and palette, so he can eat properly – and boy does he love to eat. Two follow up surgeries tried to repair the outside wound, but with no bone to support it, the tissue won’t stay closed. We are working with a homeopathic vet to see if we can encourage the wound to heal naturally.
Other than that, he is happy, healthy and loved. Initially, he would rarely interact with people, and the only time he would come out of his shell and act happy was at mealtimes. Now he plays with his toys like a crazy dog, loves to cuddle, and is making friends at daycare. Being a street dog he is quite defiant with other dogs, but is learning to relax and play. Did I mention he loves to eat? He will always have a starving street dog mentality and his favorite is the Honest Kitchen Preference. Being able to add your own protein source, cooked or raw, is a big plus, as you can offer variety for picky eaters, and still know that they are getting a balanced meal. Since giving him the Honest Kitchen his coat is soft and shiny, he has regular stools, and more energy.
Big thanks from Murphy and me, for providing great products & superior, convenient service.
