Let Sleeping Dogs Lie.....

Sweetie.
She will not leave her crate so, we help by removing the top. This scares her so she runs looking for another safe place to hide. She has found one under the kitchen table.

Here she rests while we set her crate and x-pen up in a better location. She watches warily as I move about. Kane goes and takes a look….. just a peek, I am pretty sure he knows how scared she is, as he quite often just checks on her while she sleeps in her crate. Annabelle just watches from the couch…

Offering treats I approach, she is wary and skitters father under the chair. She eats the treats as I move away and over to the other side. I ever so slowly crouch beside her. She cowers in a tight little ball. At this point I expect her to bolt, but she stays put. I gently sit down and pour out more treats… no she will still not take them from my hand, so I leave then just under her nose. She tolerates me gently stroke her, her little body is so totally rigid. I worry about how all this stress is affecting her physically. She allows me to slowly massage her….. after about 10 minutes her body is more relaxed and she eats the treats =)…

Again I retreat leaving treats in my wake….
